Restaurants, Entertainment and Other Necessities

Less than two hours from Alexandria, Virginia, Wolf Run is a retreat nestled on the Great North Mountain, adjoining the George Washington National Forest. The following are some special nearby spots to visit during your stay:

Front Royal

A good stop for an evening meal on your way to Wolf Run.  Interesting menu and setting, on the expensive side.

This is great place to stop on the way to Wolf Run for a special occasion.  It is expensive and will require a reservation.  There is a closed circuit TV in each room so that you can watch the chefs prepare your meal or you can go back to the kitchen and watch and talk to the chefs as they prepare the meals.  (Full set of stairs to access.)

Strasburg, Virginia
Hi Neighbor! Restaurant, Strasburg Virginia  This is an old fashioned country diner-type restaurant with nightly specials, many side vegetables and moderately priced.

Old Mill Restaurant, on Route 11 as you go south out of Strasburg.  Quaint old gristmill building, excellent food, expensive ($18-25 main courses)

Wardensville, West Virginia (four miles west of Wolf Run)
Kac-Ka-Pon Restaurant, daily specials, local hub for breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Moderately priced.

Trout Provisions has limited fresh produce, a gift shop, and local artists’ creations for sale. Also contains a massage therapist on the upper level.

Coyote Café provides homemade pastries with whole wheat dough, some organic items, espresso coffees, pizza with whole wheat crust, wraps, etc.

Kerr Hardware has most necessities for repairs, outdoor equipment, etc.  Also sells gas and has a QuickMart that will make sandwiches from their deli.

Grocery Store  - There is a small grocery store on the right side of the main road in Wardensville.  They supply most things that you would need.
